Martin Eberhard's 88-2SIOJP is included for 2-port RS-232 IO and advanced PROM monitor AMON

The 88-2SIOJP is included as Supplemental Resource

"Great for troubleshooting and development"

"Part of the design criteria for the 88-2SIOJP was to make it look original in an Altair. No surface mount ICs, only 2 layers, no fine-line traces, all ICs were available in 1976-1979, same connectors as MITS used, software compatibility with the 88-2SIO, etc. So although it is not original, it is definitely in the spirit of an original Altair board."

Martin Eberhard

"... I appreciate Martin's 88-2SIOJP to the extent I have four of them. They are great for troubleshooting and development..."

The 88-2SIOJP board is for "power users" who want additional MITS and RCPM software. The original 88-2SIO, 88-SIO, and 88-UIO are available as Options.

"... For display though, I'd try to build up systems that use original hardware"

The 88-2SIOJP board is for "power users" who want Remote CP/M Operation.
The original 88-2SIO, 88-SIO, and 88-UIO are available as Options.

The new owner has the option of displaying older boards outside the mainframe and still use the system to run MITS and CP/M Software.

"... I can tell you using modern cards to make a system work is not going to add value."

Optional, original MITS IO
boards can still be added for older, but less powerful configurations. The new owner can decide the value of more power and software from an additional tool or use Tom Durston's 88-2SIO.
